Skratch Attests: My Perfect Everyday Handbag Was Made By a Golf Brand

Why spend thousands of dollars on designer bags, when this $40 canvas bag is actually all you need (and more)?

Outside of the realm of golf, I would consider myself to have authority over one other thing—knowing a good quality bag when I see one. I'd even go as far as calling myself a savant of sorts.

My evidence? The 10 different golf bags taking up ample space in my Brooklyn apartment. Not to mention the other 25+ purses and tote bags—from high-end designer handbags accumulated through trips abroad, to the free canvas bags that get shoved into my hands on the street (I can't help myself). There's also several duffles, shoe bags, and the occasional knack sack that I'm including in this tally. My point is....bags are essential, and the ones actually worth spending a pretty penny on, often get overlooked.

And despite my seemingly never-ending supply, there's one bag that I keep coming back to because it's just that good. It's minimal. It's the perfect size. If I spill something on it, it washes off. It's everything you need in a normal, everyday purse, but except it's not really a purse at all.

The Goodie Bag from Jones Sports Co. is amazing in every way. Who knew that the thousands upon thousands of dollars I was spending on leather goods would actually be replaced by a small $40 canvas bag? And how did they know that mini, handheld purses are the "it girl" (and boy) silhouette currently? It's not one of those tiny, micro bags we see during Fashion Week—it boasts more utility, like a fanny pack without being so like...the opposite of "still happening." (I'm so sorry fanny pack appreciators.)

Here's a love letter to the best bag I've ever known.

Looks Are Important.

Guess what. Men can (and should) wear these little bags, too. You don't have to call it a purse if your masculinity disapproves. They aren't uniquely designed for female consumers. Jacob Elordi looks cool AF with his purses. Your favorite athletes love themselves a designer bag! No walk-in tunnel fit is complete without them. Sure, a lot of them are duffles but a bag, is a bag!

My hope is that eventually everyone just embraces the power of a good bag. Fellas, please don't sleep on this bad boy. It's minimal, not just in design but in color, too. It isn't overly feminine or masculine, it's wonderfully neutral, so no matter who is rocking it or wearing it, the functionality is the main focus.

No Pockets? No Problem.

Ah, functionality—what a concept.

One of the many functions of handbags and purses are to be the solution to the lack of or total absence of pockets in women's apparel. This void is felt tenfold in golf. Golf clothes for women are notoriously known to have terrible repository space even for something as small as our tees!

This is an easy solution to a rather silly problem. Whether I'm transporting my golf goods from car to cart (think sunscreen, an extra sleeve of balls, and of course, on-course snacks), or headed out to the course during tournament coverage and need some place to store my phone and other devices and goods—this is my saving grace.

You Can Take it Anywhere and Everywhere

The very best part about it, is that it clips right on to your golf bag. Personally I just throw it on my alignment rod and I store my sunscreen, keys, wallet, favorite on-course snacks, literally anything I can think of into it and it's perfect.

(Life hack, get the matching goodie bag to go with your golf bag—everyone loves a color scheme.)

Or if I'm moving around the city running errands, it keeps all my everyday knick knacks in order just the same. It's actually kind of the perfect off-duty, gorpcore accessory (perhaps it has something to do with Jones being based out of Portland). It fits that crunchy, granola vibe so well—while also being able to be paired well with just about any casual fit you wanna throw.

It's a one-size fits all kind of bag. Whatever you're looking for, it meets the bill. Sexy color ways, multifunctional, affordable—here's to the best "purse" in golf.
