SKRATCH IN THE FIELD

Most of the time, our Working Holiday series is built around public golf, showing what’s out there, what’s accessible, what you and friends can go and do. But this one was a little different. When the chance came up to tag along on one of Mac’s work trips (again) and we saw the course—it wasn't a difficult decision for it to be an episode of Working Holiday. Robinswood Golf Club isn’t somewhere you just book a tee time. It makes the kind of “private golf” we’re used to feel public. And that feelings starts to develop before you even arrive on property.

SKRATCH IN THE FIELD

For years, golf retail felt predictable. Pro shops that all looked the same. Retail spaces that felt more transactional than inspirational. A lot of product, not a lot of perspective. But even that side of golf is starting to move in a better direction. Shops are becoming more thoughtful. More curated. More aware of style, culture, design, hospitality, and the overall experience of being there.
At the same time, some of the most credible spaces in golf now barely feel like golf stores at all. They look like coffee shops, sneaker boutiques, skate shops, art galleries, vintage spaces, or creative studios that just happen to care deeply about the game. And that shift says a lot about where golf is right now.
This list exists because golf style and golf culture are expanding in real time. Everything is up for consideration now. A surf shop carrying one great golf brand. A Korean coffee spot with simulators in the back. A boutique with pleated trousers, vintage Oakleys, and golf shoes all sitting side by side. The lines between golf, fashion, sport, and lifestyle continue to blur, and honestly, that’s what makes this era interesting.
