Spring Tune-Up: What Skratch Editors Are Adding to Their Bags Right Now

From fresh grips to lightweight layers, these Amazon finds are the small upgrades making a big difference as golf season ramps back up.

Spring golf just hits different.

The layers come off. The group chats wake back up. Tee times start to feel real again. And whether you played all winter or haven’t touched a club in months, there’s this universal urge to reset. It’s the perfect time to clean out the bag and closet, swap in something new, and show up to that first tee feeling like a slightly upgraded version of yourself.

Because getting ready for a new season isn’t just about your swing. It’s the little things. Fresh grips. A glove that hasn’t seen 40-degree temps. A polo you actually want to wear. Maybe even a piece of tech that keeps you honest no matter where your game is landing these days.

And the best part? You don’t need to overthink it—or go searching in five different places. Amazon’s Golf Shop is one of the easiest ways to ways to get dialed for the season, with a mix of high-performance gear, everyday essentials, and the kind of newer brands that are starting to shape where golf style and culture are headed. It’s easier than ever to make a few smart upgrades without a full overhaul.

So we kept it simple: a spring tune-up. The Skratch team rounded up the pieces we’re actually reaching for right now—easy Amazon finds that make getting back out there feel seamless, functional, and just a little bit better.

And alongside that, we pulled together a small capsule of our own—products available on Amazon with the same idea in mind: a fresh start to the season, without overcomplicating it. Before we get to the editors' picks, here's a quick preview of our Spring refresh line.

There’s nothing like the refreshed energy that spring brings. Everything just feels lighter, brighter! We’re shedding the literal and emotional layers of winter, and stepping into renewed versions of ourselves, ready to tackle anything and everything. But you can’t start fresh with old gear!

Now that primetime golf season is upon us, this is the time to breathe new life into your everyday essentials. It doesn’t have to be a total reset, but definitely consider revamping your essentials. Think knit polos to add into your rotation. A fresh pair of gloves that have that cozy, new-leather scent. Balls and tees because lord knows, those first few rounds post-winter will bleed you dry. And whatever else you know you’ll need to get you through before summer comes swinging in.

The nice part is shopping on Amazon's Golf Shop works for everyone—whether you’re dialing in your setup or just trying to get the basics right again.

Gearing up for spring golf can feel daunting, but it’s actually never been easier. With so many incredible products at our fingertips—here’s my go-to list of early warm-weather must-haves that I just can’t be without!

Raymond's Picks

Every year around this time, I find myself doing a small reset with my golf wardrobe. As soon as spring starts to show up on the forecast and tee times feel within reach again, I like to mix a few fresh pieces into the rotation. Nothing drastic, just thoughtful upgrades that make getting dressed for the course feel new again. A clean polo, a lightweight long sleeve for those cooler mornings, maybe a pair of pleated trousers that feel a bit more tailored than the typical five-pocket. It is the kind of refresh that reminds you: Golf style does not need to be complicated. A few well-chosen pieces can carry a lot of weight.

Lately, it’s also gotten a lot easier to find that mix—classic pieces, newer brands, everything in between—without overthinking where to look. Amazon's dedicated golf storefront has been quietly curating the refresh golfers need before heading into the season after a few months off.

RELATED: The Best Golf Pants for Men

Spring golf also tends to reward layering and versatility. Temperatures can bounce around quite a bit early in the season, so pieces that feel comfortable but still look clean always end up getting the most wear. A structured hat, a woven belt that adds a bit of texture, or a classic pair of sunglasses can quietly pull an entire look together. That is usually how I approach this time of year. Not a full overhaul, just a handful of reliable staples and a couple elevated touches that make the walk to the first tee feel like the start of something again.

Ryan's Picks

With winter coming to an end (hopefully sooner rather than later), the most important thing for me is making sure my clubs and gear are ready for the season. This means checking in on all of the little things so once that first tee time is booked, I can be ready to go.

Now, when it comes to gear, one thing that I believe is super important to starting off the year right is with fresh grips, because your grip is the only thing that connects you to your clubs, and the last thing you want is to realize you don’t have traction as you take a full rip with your driver.

RELATED: This Amazon Club Building Tool is a Massive Time Saver

A couple of other things that can be super helpful include the iRange Sports Stick monopod so you can record your swing without asking your friends to hold the camera—that way you can save videos for your coach, or to post on social media. And one more is the Groove-It Brush to keep your clubs clean once you do hit the links. Honestly, there are few things as annoying in golf as hitting that first full iron when you get dirt all in your grooves, and you realize you forgot your towel and brush in the car, and with the Groove-It Brush’s built-in water tank, you can get those grooves clean in a jiffy.

It’s the kind of stuff that’s easy to overlook, but also easy to knock out in one go when everything’s in the same storefront.

Riley's Picks

I’ve been buried under snow for the last few months. But last week, I left to cover THE PLAYERS—not to brag—and I saw there was going to be a couple 60-degree days in Boston while I was gone. To my delight, all the snow was gone when I got home Saturday morning.

You know what that means? Golf season is officially here! My home club is set to open the first week of April, so I have just over two weeks to get my bag and wardrobe set up for the season.

Over the winter, I got myself a new Jones bag. I walk 95 percent of the time when I play, especially at my home course, so I wanted something a little lighter and easier to carry. I also grabbed a few boxes of Vice Pro Soft golf balls. I’ve been using them for the last few seasons and they’re money. They spin around the greens but offer plenty of distance off the tee. Plus, I save a little money with Vice compared to bigger manufacturers.

RELATED: My Goal for this Golf Season: Build an Aesthetic Golf Bag

As for the wardrobe, this season we're bringing back the cardigan better than ever. I want to make Arnold Palmer proud when I step out on the golf course, especially in the spring and fall. I found a nice one from Amazon Essentials that’s available in a bunch of colors, so I picked up a few. Feel free to join me on Team Cardigan this year.

Oh, and one last thing. I’ve decided that I want to level up my practice a bit, and Garmin’s R10 launch monitor is on sale now—$200 off! It’s good for in the garage or out on the range. I also like how small it is. I can just keep it in my golf bag for whenever I need it.

So, if you’re like me, and golf season has finally arrived after a cold winter, make sure you deep-clean your golf bag to figure out what you need for the year. And if you need any help with stocking up—we got you.

It’s a magical time of year, if you’re a golfer who’s forced to hibernate through winter. Even before we move the clocks forward, golfers are perfecting their indoor air swings, building their fantasy shopping carts, and visualizing all of those shots that find the exact right part of the fairway.

Back when I lived on the East Coast, I knew the unique anxiety of late winter all too well. Maybe there’s still snow on the ground or frost delays abound. But you want to get into the mood for the season. And you want to do it now. That means indoor putting practice, golf balls you can hold in your hand, performance plans backed by tech that you can get set up for that first day above forty degrees.

It’s also the time of year to completely refresh your kit. I’ll dump my whole bag upside down and start fresh—that means icy white Pro V1s that arrived at my door in a day. That means the smooth satisfaction of a brand new glove. It might even mean a few game improvement moves, some as simple and sweet as impact tape for those indoor range sessions leading up to your first tee time. You know, to leave the hosel shots to last year.

Here's a look at my full reset and shopping cart—one that’s gotten a lot easier to pull off with Amazon's Golf Shop so you're not piecing it together from five different places.

Brittany's Picks

There’s always that first stretch of the season where you realize the game didn’t just pause over the winter—it moved forward without you. The fits are a little sharper. The gear is a little smarter. The line between performance and style keeps getting blurrier in the best way.

So my approach this time of year isn’t a full reset, it’s more of an edit.

What actually earns a spot in the bag? What makes getting dressed easier? What feels like something you’d reach for on the course and off it?

That usually means a few reliable staples—pieces you trust, things that perform—but also one or two additions that shift the feel just enough. A silhouette you haven’t tried yet. A fabric that moves better. A detail that makes something familiar feel new again.

And right now, it’s easier than ever to find that balance. The mix of established performance brands and emerging names shaping where golf culture is headed is all sitting in the same place, which makes the whole process feel a lot less like searching and more like refining.

Because the goal isn’t to show up to the first tee as someone different. It's to show up with the best version of yourself, your game, your look and your mindset to kickoff the best season yet.
