The internet golf space has become sensational over the past few years but the year of 2025 was certainly a game changer for the sport. We saw creators compete at some of the world’s most difficult courses, PGA Tour professionals tag along for rounds, a community come together for a loss of dear friend and of course, an Internet Invitational event that brought more than 23 million eyes to YouTube golf. Yes, some of these amazing moments are fairly recent but just in case we need a refresher, let’s take a look back at the top moments in YouTube golf in the year of 2025.

Moment #1 - Bryson Dechambeau, YouTube’s Greatest Pro Golfer

It seemed to have brought adversity being a YouTube personality while also a U.S Champion for Bryson Dechambeau. Trying to express personality through YouTube golf; Bryson Dechambeau has broken so many boundaries doing just that. He has brought on some of the largest figures in our world to compete on his YouTube channel this year with his Break 50 series. He has shown vulnerability and relatability that we all have this drive inside of us to be great. Dechambeau has brought that to the professional side as well, firing up crowds or fist pumping after a massive putt. This year was the year Dechambeau was truly accepted in the YouTube golf space as both a professional and a personality.

Moment #2 - The USGA Invites YouTube Golfers to Play at Oakmont Country Club

The USGA invited tons of YouTube creators to play Oakmont Country Club, host of this year’s U.S. Open. Channels such as Fore Play Golf, Good Good, Bob Does Sports and others played their own versions of majors at Oakmont. It showed the difficulty of the course for some creators who, like me, are just aiming to play bogey golf. It also showed the skill level some of these YouTube golfers have with their game. Brad Dalke, Good Good Golf member, ended his round at Oakmont shooting a 77 (+5). To give perspective, the cut line for the U.S. Open this year was +7 heading into the weekend.

Now, I know those professionals competed under much more pressure and played back-to-back rounds of golf versus the one day the creators had access to the course, but I think we can all agree that’s pretty impressive showing up to one of the hardest courses in the world and shooting five over on the day. More moments like this where we get to watch YouTube golfers compete at the same courses that active golf professionals compete, blend the two worlds together, potentially kickstarting more opportunities in the future.

Moment #3 - The GOAT of Golf Caddies for Fore Play Barstool Golf on YouTube

If there is any singular moment that would solidify just how big YouTube golf has become it would be seeing Tiger Woods get involved. Barstool Golf did just that, bringing Tiger on as a caddie for one of their holes. The entire video you can almost feel the nerves that are seeping out of all three Barstool guys. It truly puts all of this into perspective that many of these YouTube golfers are average people just like the majority of golfers watching. YouTube golf has brought on tons of professionals this year expanding their platforms. Tiger Woods inching closer to the YouTube space is a massive moment for internet golf.

Moment #4 - Grant Horvat Brings the #1 Golfer in the World Onto His Channel

Keeping these professional x YouTube crossover moments rolling, Grant Horvat has seemingly brought on more professionals than any of his content creating peers. No stranger to the TOUR, Horvat’s reputation in YouTube golf as one of the most talented on the course has allowed him to show it off against golf greats. In the year of 2025, he posted videos going up against Scottie Scheffler, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day, Nelly Korda and Colin Morikawa. And that’s not to mention the other massive figures outside of the pro golf tours that have joined the competitions like Saquon Barkley, Bronny James and Luke Combs. Yes… all in the year of 2025.

The traction these collaborations are bringing is incredible. Not only is having the No. 1 golfer in the world on YouTube golf going to bring viewers from the golf world to YouTube but pairing that with names from other spaces like the NFL and NBA or Country Music brings brand new viewers into the space. Not to mention he also won The Creator Classic at TPC Sawgrass. Grant Horvat Golf, in itself, is a moment in 2025.

Moment #5 - Everyone Loves Road Trips, Good Good Went on the Best One Yet

Good Good released a 7-video series. The “$1 vs $10,000 Golf Road Trip” brings us with them through a 1,500 mile trip from Colorado to Idaho. They split their group into three teams and compete at a different course each video.

It was packed with thrilling golf, including Bubbie’s first ever hole-in-one. This series averaged more than 1 million viewers per video. What this road trip showed more than anything was the bonds that these groups have on their channels. This series brought all of us into their daily lives by including ‘vlog style’ portions of the video on top of the golf. It was produced similar to a documentary of a bunch of friends traveling the country, playing golf. We see this happening more and more where YouTube channels are expanding from not only golf videos but longform series, live streams and podcasts.

Moment #6 - Good Good Girls - The Expansion of One of YouTube Golf’s Biggest Channel

Earlier this month, Good Good announced their expansion into Good Good Girls. The four golfers kick starting this branch of Good Good includes, Marissa Wenzler, Alexis Miestowski, Hadley Walts and Yoonhee Kim. This is not just a moment for YouTube golf this year. It may become a moment for many years to come. Majority of the top YouTube golf channels are male-based so launching a channel featuring female golfers that will have consistent faces and weekly uploads can make a big impact on YouTube golf. There are tons of female golfers out there looking to thrive in professional tour play or show their personality in YouTube golf. The more female channels there are, the more opportunities for new viewers to enjoy and feel inspired to golf themselves.

Moment #7 - The Passing of One of YouTube Golf’s Closest Members

This past year, YouTube golf brought some of the greatest moments in the sport but it also brought sadness to many who are involved. Barstool Sports personality, Cody “Beef” Franke passed away in late October. Beef often shared advice and training in how-to or lesson videos. He was a familiar face and voice on the Fore Play podcast. We all were able to enjoy his positive personality in the Internet Invitational. It was a special moment, watching the emotion from Beef after winning the Internet Invitational. Beef took the first shot of the event and the last. His legacy will be forever remembered in the YouTube golf world.

Moment #8 - The Most Insane YouTube Golf Event Ever.

Of course we could not leave out the drama-packed Internet Invitational hosted by Dave Portnoy with Barstool Sports and Bob Does Sports. Arguably coming in as the largest moment in YouTube golf’s recent history. The event combined 48 of the internet's biggest names in golf. We all watched it or at least caught clips of the event. Six videos of thrilling and jaw-dropping golf.

Dramatic moments that left viewers unsure of the truth. Of course, to top it off, the $1 million purse prize for the winning group. Portnoy has already spoken to the media about expanding it to larger names like Caitlin Clark and Josh Allen. Portnoy has also mentioned increasing the purse for next year’s Invitational to $10 million. The event has brought in more attention for YouTube golf than ever imagined. It showed all of us just how exhilarating YouTube golf can be. There are plenty of players who can compete at a high level. There are also plenty of players that can bring great personality to the event. Combining play and personality is what YouTube golf is all about and the Internet Invitational showed off all that this space has to offer.

Moment #9 - Creator Classic Island Green Excitement

This year saw incredible strides toward blending worlds of the PGA TOUR with YouTube golf. The Creator Classic was an early spotlight on how these two communities can coexist in a single tournament week. The Creator Classic at THE PLAYERS was held the day before tournament play started at TPC Sawgrass with an eight hole stroke play match cumulating with a sudden-death playoff between the top three finishers on the iconic par-3 17th island green. Grant Horvat took home the prize but how we got there was...tense. But no single moment captured the high-stakes, personality-driven drama quite like the journey Fat Perez and Trent Ryan took to finish their rounds.

Never has an octuple-bogey 11 garnished such an enamored crowed or enthusiastic cheers as Trent worked the crowd through his countless attempts to hit the green. Reloading after short, long and who-knows-where-it-went ball flights leading to an electric two-putt finish unlike any other. This is the definition of why this content works. Golf is golf, entertainment is entertainment and not all electric moments require tour-level electricity.

In the same breath as we cheered just for a ball to stay in-bounds was Fat Perez's 50-foot birdie putt with a path reminiscent of Tiger Woods' iconic "better than most" putt. This is the golf that fans can relate to, this is the golf that fans can't stop watching. A master class of 'wow' moments showing what this platform can really achieve.

Moment #10-Bringing YouTube Haters In Front of the Cameras

Our last moment of the year is the newest popular hater series that YouTube golf brands are doing. Fore Play Golf started their “H8ER” series where they bring on trolls from the internet to match up against Riggs on the course. Bob Does Sports just started their “Joe vs Schmo” series where they’re bringing on people who have commented and messaged terrible things to Joey Cold Cuts to play against each other. These series are showing the raw emotion these golfers are feeling after being spoken to so poorly by YouTube golf haters. They’re heated matches with smack talk going back and forth. I have a feeling with the amount of internet trolls there are in this world, these types of series are going to be seen way more often with even more drama.

So, here's to a phenomenal year in Youtube golf…There were plenty of more screaming and shouting hole-in-one’s and entertaining rounds of golf where that came from. As for 2026, we should expect to see even more collaborations with YouTube golfers and PGA Tour professionals. The sport is just taking off on the content side and more people are saying ‘yes’ to this style of golf. It’s an exciting time to be joining the trending community of YouTube golf.
