Cody Franke, a member of Barstool Sports’ ForePlay podcast and lovingly known as “Beef,” passed away from a sudden medical issue over the weekend. He was 31 years old.

“Cody truly loved the game of golf,” ForePlay wrote in a statement. "He selflessly spent much of his life helping others improve and enjoy the game. Watching golf bring people happiness brought him happiness, and that infectious personality was felt by everyone who met him. He was universally known as the nicest guy in the world.”

Before joining Barstool in December of 2024, Beef was a PGA Professional. He spent six years in Southern California at Desert Willow Golf Resort before he was hired by Thornberry Creek at Oneida in Green Bay in February 2023.

"Golf has always been home for me,” Beef told the PGA of America, “it’s something I can go do. If you go to the golf course, it doesn’t really feel like work-work – I’m just at a place I’m really happy to be around."

The golf world has lost a wonderful member. Our thoughts are with Beef’s family, friends, coworkers, and everyone who had to pleasure of knowing him.
