At first glance, the new OPTM drivers and fairway woods from Cobra look like any other modern driver family. But once you dive in, it becomes clear that Cobra isn’t just making small tweaks. With this release, they're attempting to solve a problem many golfers experience but don’t always quite know how to explain: why solid swings still sometimes end up in less than ideal places.
At the core of the new OPTM driver and fairway wood lineup is something Cobra calls POI, or Product of Inertia. On the most basic level, it's a different way of thinking about how a clubhead moves through impact. Or, in other words, it's a way to observe how a head deflects in areas away from the traditional vertical and horizontal axes.

“MOI is still important, but POI is the next frontier in terms of overall accuracy. In design, we want to increase MOI (stability) while also reducing POI (3D twisting). POI finetunes forgiveness into directional consistency as it allows the clubhead to rotate more naturally with your swing. If you’re playing a 10k driver but wonder why hits on the high toe, for example, are still producing noticeably wild results, it’s probable your driver has a high POI design, which is a common fault of many current high MOI models.”
- Jose Miraflor, VP - Product Architecture at Cobra Puma Golf.
In simple terms, high MOI helps you survive bad contact. Low POI helps the ball start closer to where you aimed it.
That’s the balancing act Cobra focused on with OPTM. Through more rounded shaping and strategic weight placement, they’ve managed to reduce 3D twisting at impact while keeping stability high. The result is up to 23 tighter downrange dispersion, according to Cobra.
All four drivers utilize a lightweight carbon crown, titanium frame, and a forged face insert featuring H.O.T. Face technology. With 15 strategically placed “hot spots” across the face, ball speed stays up even when contact drifts away from center, which, if were being honest, will happen more than we want it to - but that's why engineers design for forgiveness.

Cobra’s FF33 hosel system also continues to play it's part with 33 independent loft and lie settings, it’s one of the most flexible fitting systems out there.

The OPTM LS (Low-Spin) is the most compact, Tour-inspired option, built with faster swingers in mind and three movable weights spread across the high toe, mid heel, and rear.
The OPTM X keeps a Tour-preferred profile but simplifies the setup with weight ports in the toe and back.
The MAX-K goes all-in on forgiveness with an oversized shape, the highest MOI of the group, and a fixed rear weight.
This model shape has been tuned to position as much mass in the heel portion of the driver as possible, and by removing the PWR-Bridge from close to the face engineers were able to create an even more draw-biased driver.

OPTM doesn’t stop with the drivers. The same design principles apply to the fairways and hybrids to deliver more consistency.
The OPTM fairway woods feature Adaptive POI Weighting, FF33 adjustability, and H.O.T. Face technology. The goal is the same as the driver lineup: reduce unwanted twisting, keep launch and speed consistent, and give golfers options that actually match how they deliver the club.
There are three models — LS, X, and MAX — each aimed at a very different player.

The OPTM LS Titanium is the pure speed and low spin option. A low, forward center of gravity helps produce fast ball speeds, while three movable weights in the rear, heel, and toe let you fine-tune shot shape. Its comes in 3w, 3HF (a 4-wood), and a 5w.
The OPTM X Fairway sits in the middle of the lineup and blends speed and forgiveness without leaning too far in either direction. A mid center of gravity location and medium face height make it versatile off the tee or from the turf, while adjustable weights in the rear and toe help dial in launch and dispersion. It comes in 3-wood to 9-wood, with the 9-wood having the opportunity to be one of the hottest selling high lofted fairway woods this year.
The OPTM MAX is all about forgiveness. It features the shallowest face of the three OPTM models and a center of gravity location closer to the heel. The MAX is available from 3-wood through 9-wood with all lofts having a FF33 hosel.

Cobra also offers the OPTM MAX in a women’s configuration, with lofts designed to generate added spin and easier launch.

The full Cobra OPTM product line will be available for fitting and pre-sale starting on January 13th, and will be available at retail and online on January 20.
The drivers are all priced at $600 each, while the OPTM fairway woods are priced at $470 for the titanium LS, $370 for the OPTM X, and $330 for the OPTM Max. The hybrid is $330.
