History was made in one of the dreamiest places on Earth. The Monterey Peninsula is a little slice of heaven, and was home to this year's U.S. Women's Mid Amateur Championship.
Since 1987, the Mid Am has been the national championship for amateurs age 25 and older who were in need of a competitive arena. Not to be confused with the U.S. Women's Amateur, which includes a field comprised of many collegiate and even high school aged golfers—this event was established specifically for female amateur golfers to have an opportunity to compete beyond college.
The coolest part? Almost all of these players commit themselves to other full-time jobs. From social workers to dermatologic surgeons, these women are every bit of impressive.
It's a very unique and special championship hosted by the United States Golf Association (USGA) that serves as a reminder that the greatest part of our game is that it's meant to be played and enjoyed forever, no matter what you do in life.
And the 2025 champion, Ina Kim-Schaad, is a true testament to that. In her day job she's known as the "Fearless Golf Coach" working as a golf mental performance coach in Jupiter, Florida. Her 9-to-5 may be exactly what got her through the grueling six days and 144 holes of intense competitive golf.
But she's no stranger to the big moments. This was Kim-Schaad's 20th USGA championship and eighth Mid-Amateur. She was the winner of the 2019 U.S. Mid-Am champion in Arizona, and this year at age 42, she became the fourth-oldest winner in the history of the event.
During the final on Thursday in dramatic fashion, the fearless coach turned into a fearless player, draining an 18-foot birdie putt on the fifth extra hole to defeat her opponent Hanley Long, in what is now the longest championship final in U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur history at 23 holes.
But the drama and record-breaking wasn't the only kind of fashion being served up by the 42 year old.
She also won this coveted title in what is hands down the best golf fit I've seen this year. Go ahead and just scroll through this carousel that the USGA put together.
Like each photo just looks better and better.
The tailoring, where her vest hits just right over her trousers, is sublime. The fit (how it wears on her) of everything is flawless. There's structure and fluidity, creating a harmonious balance between a streamlined look that isn't restrictive. But overall, this just a testament to what personal style can really look like in golf.
I don't know Ina or her taste, but this look gives me a few clues as to the type of person she might be. She's playful, her accessories equipped with a polka-dotted scarf wrapped around her neck and the forever cool Nike Air Jordan's on her feet, are a dead give away that she enjoys wearing her clothes and creating moments where feminine and masculine coexist.
The choice of wearing a pinstriped trouser is beyond. I simply have no words on just how good that is.

Outside of her performance being a battle of will and grit, the champion also displayed a masterclass in layering, and creating texture and depth through accessorizing.
Learn from her and from this. This is golf style at it's very, very best.
Author's Note: Though I was unable to pinpoint exactly what Ina was wearing en route to her victory, I curated a few options that will emulate the same vibe of this winning look.
