Preview day at the PGA Championship usually feels a bit more relaxed stylistically. Guys are testing layers, experimenting with fabrics, pulling out pieces that might not survive tournament pressure once things officially start. That’s part of what makes it interesting.
This year there were four looks that immediately caught my eye. Not because they were loud, but because they all approached golf style differently. One leaned into soft luxury layering. Another stayed rooted in clean traditionalism. One felt heavily inspired by Korean and Japanese golf styling. And Jason Day continued pushing modern oversized golf silhouettes forward.
The best part? None of them looked like they came from the same universe.

Tommy Fleetwood continues to be one of the most naturally stylish players in golf because nothing ever looks overworked. The navy striped Sun Day Red cashmere crew draped perfectly over the collar with just enough room through the body to avoid feeling stiff or athletic. Paired with the relaxed Lululemon Daydrift trousers.
Then there’s the footwear. The unreleased spiked Sun Day Red Presidios quietly changed the tone of the outfit from lifestyle leaning to tournament ready. Soft textures up top. Structured performance underneath. Really balanced look.

Justin Thomas looked like he could walk directly from a private club patio onto the first tee without changing a thing. The knitted collar polo added texture and shape without becoming overly retro, while the navy Holderness & Bourne chinos kept the fit grounded and tailored.
The biggest standout though might’ve been the FootJoy Premiere Series Packard 1776 shoes. White saddle style golf shoes already carry weight historically, but the navy detailing tied the entire outfit together cleanly.

Y.E. Yang’s look felt like a direct nod to the rise of elevated golf fashion coming out of Asia right now. The cream V-neck sweater vest layered over the polo gave the outfit softness and shape, while the navy trousers kept everything sharp underneath.
And honestly, all black FootJoy Premiere Fields remain wildly underrated. They gave the outfit a bit of edge without overpowering the traditional silhouette. There’s a calmness to this entire look that feels incredibly wearable.

Jason Day continues to live in his own lane stylistically, and at this point it’s hard not to appreciate the commitment to the vision. The oversized seafoam mockneck paired with the pleated khaki trouser created one of the more relaxed silhouettes we saw all day.
What makes Jason’s styling work is the balance. Oversized tops can quickly look sloppy in golf, but the cropped proportions of the pleated pant and the structure from the Payntr Moving Day shoes kept everything intentional.
