When I think of Andy Garcia, I’m brought back to some of my favorite movies of all time: Oceans 11, 12, and 13. He’s unbelievable in those films. But if you’re watching “Landman” like everyone else right now, you know Garcia is doing his thing on the CBS hit TV show.

On Wednesday, the golf-obsessed 69-year-old joined Chad Mumm and Wells Adams for a wide-ranging chat on Vanity Index—now airing on Golf Channel—and told a pretty awesome story about how his character’s putter came to be.

“I called Scotty, who’s a friend over the years, and he had made all my—my Napa (putter). And I said, ‘Do you think you—can you make a putter? I’m going to bring it on set and I want to putt with it in the scene.’ And he says, ‘How do you want it?’ I said, ‘However you want it.’ Scotty said, ‘I’ll make it gun metal.’

Garcia also discussed how he draws style inspiration from legends of the game and a whole lot more. If you missed it Wednesday morning, catch the re-air of this week’s Vanity Index episode on Golf Channel at 11 p.m. ET.
