Sahith Theegala has been struggling with a neck injury. It caused him to withdraw from the Truist Championship before the final round, and he hasn’t been playing the level of golf we’ve come to expect from him.
On Wednesday, Theegala announced on social media that the doctors have told him to “put the clubs away for a little while,” and that he withdrew from the RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto, a tournament he called “one of my favorite events of the year.”

He’s made 13 of 15 cuts to this point of the season, but he’s finished inside the top 25 just twice: the Genesis Invitational and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
After donning the red, white, and blue at last season’s Presidents Cup, Theegala had hopes of making his first Ryder Cup team. He currently sits at 37th in the points standings.
He’ll have some serious work to do to impress Captain Keegan Bradley when he gets back on the course.
It’s unknown whether he’ll play in next week’s U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club.
