Picks to Win & Best Bets for the RBC Canadian Open

The PGA TOUR is north of the border for the RBC Canadian Open this week and we have some picks for you!

On the eve of the year’s third major championship, the PGA TOUR is north of the border for the RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto. Some of the best players in the world have traveled to the Great White North to get in one final tune-up before the U.S. Open at Oakmont.

Among the biggest names is Rory McIlroy, who will tee it up for the first time since tying for 47th at the PGA Championship. Since McIlroy's win at the Masters, Scottie Scheffler has taken the spotlight back with three Ws in his last four starts. With the Texan missing from the field this week, it’s a great spot for McIlroy to get one win ahead of Scottie for the season.

Some of the other big names in the field include Ludvig Aberg, Max Homa, Shane Lowry, Wyndham Clark, Tom Kim, and Jake Knapp, among others.

It’s gonna be a fun week.

Shane Lowry (22/1)

Alright, Shane, I’m going back to you here. Since we have no course history to go off of, we have to base these picks on recent form, course fit (long par-70 tracks), and past results in Canada. Shane checks all those boxes. According to Ron Klos and Betsperts boys, the Irishman is third in Strokes Gained over the last five years on long par-70 courses and sixth in SG: Canada—gotta love that stat. After missing the cut at the PGA, Shane was inside the top-10 at the Memorial heading into the final round but struggled on Sunday with a 77 and eventually tied for 24th. He’s been hovering around a win all season. It’s time to get it done.

Taylor Pendrith (28/1)

I feel like I need to have a Canadian on the card, so here he is. Pendrith has played some great golf over his last two starts, tying for fifth at the PGA and for 12th at the Memorial. He struggled in his home land early in his career, but he finally played well at the Canadian Open last season, tying for 21st.

Sam Burns (30/1)

Love this spot for Burns. He’s played well in Canada over the last several seasons, tying for fourth in 2022 and for 10th in 2024. As for how he’s been playing recently, he’s finished T-19 or better in four of his last five starts. That’ll do. He hasn’t won since 2023, but this is a good opportunity to get his sixth W.
