Report: Early Look at the PGA TOUR’s Revamped 2027 Schedule

Since PGA TOUR CEO Brian Rolapp outlined the league’s wishes for its future schedule earlier this season at THE PLAYERS, fans have waited with anticipation to learn more about what it could potentially look like. On Tuesday, the Sports Business Journal released an early teaser.

According to the SBJ’s Josh Carpenter, the lineup through the PGA Championship is “mostly confirmed.” The Torrey Pines event between the American Express and AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am isn’t set in stone, but expected to happen. Sentry, the past sponsor of the TOUR’s season-opener at Kapalua, is likely to step in as the sponsor in San Diego, according to SBJ. The Puerto Rico Open’s date, the opposite-field event to Bay Hill, wasn’t confirmed by the TOUR.

As for some early thoughts, going back to Florida in May seems odd. Not only is the Florida Swing already mixed around—the Arnold Palmer Invitational got moved to the end, while the Cadillac Championship moved up—but now the Valspar Championship will be held a month-and-a-half later. Temperature-wise, that’s going to be an uncomfortable spot for the players.

One change I do like is the stretch between the Masters and PGA. The RBC Heritage remains in its normal spot, then a run of three “skippable” events for the game’s best to rest up for the Truist and the year’s second major championship. This season, the stretch was full of signature events that took a toll.
