There isn't a bigger breakout star in college golf this season than Farah O'Keefe. The junior at UT, born and raised in Austin, hit the ground running early into the year collecting three wins by the middle of March; and all that momentum helped her become a favorite going into the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

But as spring rolls into summer, O'Keefe's acceleration to the professional stage should be on your radar.

In her Chevron Championship debut last month, the top-ranked collegiate player more than held her own against the best players in the world, earning co-low amateur honors in a performance that felt less like a surprise and more like confirmation. Nelly Korda dominated, but Farah O'Keefe made a statement.

Perhaps it's just me, but more often than not, it feels like the diamond of the season seemingly comes out of nowhere, but that sentiment is actually true for O'Keefe. Texas was her only offer out of high school, and having only played in local events, not really breaking through on a national level in junior golf, O'Keefe's game is as homegrown as it comes. Over the last two year's she's been in a maturation phase, fine-tuning her skills both mentally and physically. And that work has paid off, because now she's arrived on some of the biggest stages and the level of growth is something we're all able to see in real time.

Her golf is remarkable, that much is obvious en route to her victory that had her defeating the 2025 national champion and 2026 ANWA winner Maria Jose Marin, and runner up Megha Ganne, who's playing her final days of amateur golf this week.

Now the she has possession of the NCAA individual national championship title, O'Keefe put the finishing touch on a season that felt like a breakout from the very beginning—and one that could ultimately be remembered as the year she officially arrived.

So, what's next for her?

Well after Chevron, the 20-year-old immediately left Houston to play in a one-day, 36-hole U.S. Women's Open qualifier in Florida, where she walked away as the second alternate. But if there's a will, there's a way and with her national title, O'Keefe has successfully played her way into the field at Riviera.

She and other star amateurs like Ganne and Asterisk Talley will taken on the most coveted championship in women's golf at a venue that's long overdue for the women.

Farah O'Keefe just added herself as a player to watch next week.
