Every year, when the end of May rolls around, I'm reminded that college golfers are just built different.
The structure of the road to the national championship is a dog fight that feels overwhelming and endless. Am I being dramatic? Perhaps a little bit, but nevertheless, there's an insane amount of high level golf that these players have to execute on, and when it's all said and done, whoever hoists the trophy in the end, does so deservedly.
The NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship is a "hybrid format", meaning that the 30 teams and the six individuals not on a team who qualified first play 54 holes of stroke play to a cut, where only 15 teams and the top-nine individuals make it to play one last round of 18 to decide an individual champion. (It sounds confusing, but those players on teams who don't advance with their full roster still have an opportunity to win the title.)
This year's winner is none other than Farah O'Keefe of the University of Texas.

Once the individual title is decided, the top 8 teams from the first four days advance to a match-play bracket style tournament to determine the team champion. And for the third straight year, the Stanford women's team, led by Coach Anne Walker will face off in the final match.
The most recently won the national championship in 2024 and 2022.
The top-ranked team will go up against No. 2 USC, who is making their second finals appearance in four years. They were runner's up to Wake Forest in 2023.
The pairings and tee times are as follows:
Paula Martin Sampedro vs. Catherine Park, 5:25 p.m.
Andrea Revuelta vs. Kylie Chong, 5:35 p.m.
Meja Ortengren vs. Jasmine Koo, 5:45 p.m.
Kelly Xu vs. Elise Lee, 5:55 p.m.
Megha Ganne vs. Bailey Shoemaker, 6:05 p.m.
You can catch the action on Golf Channel from 6 to 10 p.m. EST!
