Asterisk Talley is back in the saddle this week with the LPGA Tour for the JM Eagle LA Championship.

The NorCal resident has accepted a sponsor invitation to be in the field this week, her first appearance since her tough finish at the Augusta National Women's Amateur just two weeks ago. The 17-year-old had played nearly flawless golf up until the 12th hole during Saturday's final round.

She had played over 50 holes of bogey-free golf, but Amen Corner did Amen Corner things, and Talley walked away with a quadruple bogey 7 on the infamous par-3.

When asked about what went wrong on the back nine at Augusta National, Talley said, "I mean, obviously the big number on 12 was definitely something that went a little wrong."

"[You're] just trying to hit every green possible and I mean, obviously if you miss it then trying to get up and down which is going to be crucial on this course [Augusta]. I think that's what kind of drew the line [at] ANWA, from winning and losing."

Talley is hoping that this week will offer up a fresh start, and another opportunity to gain more experiences out on the LPGA.

"I don't think I still really have processed everything that's happened," Talley shared after being asked about her emotional post-round presser. "[I] was honestly just trying to put it out of my mind after that. Trying to more focus on this event instead of trying to focus on what happened there.

I think I was just trying to figure out kind of those little mistakes and trying to honestly just gear up for this event after that Saturday."

She was pretty business-as-usual in talking about her preparation for this week. This will be her second straight year of having exemption into this field, and Talley knows this course extremely well. She's a member out at El Caballero Country Club and has played a countless number of times.

In 2024, Talley competed in the USGA's U.S. Girls' Junior where she played 154 holes out at El Cab. She'd finish runner-up to Rianne Malixi that year. At last year's JM Eagle, Talley missed the cut after shooting 69-72, to go 3-under for the tournament.

"I played this course so many times that I think it's just kind of—I know it like the back of my hand now," Talley said. "That's going to help me this week. Just leaning on that course knowledge is always helpful and I think that's going to be a big plus this week."

The top-ranked AJGA amateur will play alongside 2026 rookie Yana Wilson and 10-year veteran player Megan Khang for the first and second rounds.
