As a fan of the classic bump-and-run, I'm really considering adding the "Texas wedge" shot (using a putter off the green) to my repertoire, and it's all thanks to this college golfer.
Trevor Lewis is our latest Golf Twitter viral sensation for this epic move he pulled at the Western Intercollegiate men's golf tournament earlier this week.

He lucked out with the green-side bunker having little to no lip, though he was a tad short sided and had limited space around the pin to work with. Instead of taking the traditional route of splashing out a wedge and hoping for the best, the fifth-year senior at UNLV got creative in utilizing his putter to help with potential roll out. And let me be clear, he made this look all too easy. He gauged that thing just right and had a pretty epic out come.
It's also a nice nod to course designs and layouts for presenting such a moment to take place!
This serves as a nice reminder for golfers, of all skill levels, to get creative with your shot selection every once in a while—you have 14 clubs in your bag—use them. Whether if you're wanting to try something new or get bailed out of your lackluster short game (I promise I'm not projecting), use Lewis as inspiration in your next round. I know I am.
