Sausage Golf Boudin Noir: Weird Name, Great Putter

It may sound like a deli order, but the functionality of this precision-milled putter is something golfers can dive into.

Look, I get that at first you probably don't expect a serious putter to come from a company called Sausage Golf, and to be fair, I was suspicious when I first heard of the brand, too. But, as Shakespeare once wrote and Juliet says, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet," and in the case of the Boudin Noir, at the end of the day, it's simply a well-designed putter.

What is Sausage Golf?

A newcomer to the putter space, Sausage Golf is all about customization and adaptability. Precision milled in Côte d’Azur, France, they have two models so far: the Boudin Noir and the Design no. 2 (no bonus points for creativity in naming, but what it lacks in name it makes up for in fitting options).

Design no.2 is a smaller blade style.

The key focus with their putter designs is to offer the ideal feel and look to each golfer, and this is achieved through the modular hosel system. Now when I say feel, I'm not just talking milling type and materials, though those are important, I'm talking about stroke control torque.

Thanks to the multiple hosel locations, players have full control over the look from address along with the feel type that is generated through the putting stroke by varying the amount of toe hang.

Why It's Different

The world of putters has been filled with failed ideas and designs that went WAY too hard into customization at the consumer level. The peak of this was the Happy Putter, don't worry, most others don't remember it either, but I do, and Pepperidge Farm remembers too.

From different faces, to lofts, alignment aids, and head style, it was just way way way too much, and most golfers don't want to spend 30 minutes reading up on how to build their own putter—heck most golfers still don't use the supplied wrench to adjust their drivers.

This is where Sausage Golf gets it right!

They offer two models that come pre-built and allow golfers to quickly and easily move the shaft around the head in a very quick manner with a few screws. Rather than trying to confuse golfers with options, they not only make it simple but also do it in a putter that is both modern yet classically shaped.

On top of the looks and adjustability—the putter feels great too, thanks to the solid body construction (minus the adjustable parts) and milled grooves in the face that also help with roll consistency.
