We're in 2026, and (at least as of now), zero-torque putters aren't going anywhere. In many ways, zero-torque putters are like a snowball rolling down a hill, because what started as a niche product category has grown to become one that nobody can ignore.
PXG's success is similar to the rolling snowball with constant momentum, including big strides in the putter category, and they're at it again with the Hot Rod ZT, their first zero-torque putter featuring a straight shaft configuration, versus their patented S-Hosel.

At the heart of the design (like with all zero-torque putters) is the shaft's position just slightly above the center of gravity towards the toe. This encourages the putter to stay square to the arch of the stroke to help eliminate variables in face angle to get more putts online, more often.

Another key design feature is a built-in 3-degrees of forward press to help golfers get into the ideal impact position at address. When paired with the PXG Slant grip that angles the grip in a neutral position off the shaft axis, it promotes a consistent putting stroke with limited manipulation. This 3° of slant works in conjunction with the putter's 6° of loft that actually plays like a traditional 3° once the hands are in the correct position.
“Every detail of Hot Rod ZT was shaped around confidence, both visually and through impact. From the way the mallet frames the ball to the sound and feel off the face, we focused on creating a putter that looks stable, feels stable, and performs exactly the way players expect when it matters most.”
- Matt Andrews, PXG Design Engineer
What also separates the Hot Rod ZT from other putters in PXG's zero-torque line is its construction. Rather than relying on their hollow S-Core technology to generate feel and forgiveness, the Hot Rod is fully machined from 6061 Aluminium and built with interchangeable tungsten weights to balance the putter. These weights also allow the putter to weight anywhere from 340-410 grams.

As for the face, it utilizes PXG's aggressive milled pyramid pattern to promote forward roll, along with a crisp impact sound for more precise distance control.

The PXG Hot Rod ZT putter is available now for fittings at PXG retail locations and online at PXG.com. It's available in right and left-handed and will be priced at $450.
