Scottie Wins. Again. Plus Everything Else You May Have Missed

Scottie Scheffler comes from behind to win the BMW, and gear news you might have missed from a busy week in golf.

This week in Atlanta, we are ready to tie a bow on 2025 and the FedEx Cup at East Lake Golf Club, where, after his win at Caves Valley, Scottie Scheffler heads into the final event of the season as the clear favorite.

At this point, it almost feels routine to talk about Scheffler winning another event, even when, at the beginning of the day in Owings Mills, Maryland, he started from behind the leader. But his consistency was no match for Robert MacIntyre, who closed with a 3-over 73.

It's that consistency that has powered Scottie through the 2025 season, both on the course and when talking about the clubs in his bag. Beyond a new 7-wood that found its way into play around the Genesis Invitation, not much has been adjusted; heck, the guy still plays two Vokey SM8 wedges (don't worry, when you're the number one player in the world, they keep old stock for you).

So to celebrate his year of consistency, here's one more look into the bag of the man who just can't seem to stop winning.

Fairway Woods

3- Wood: Taylormade Qi10 Core, with Fujikura Ventus Black 8X

This isn't just a staple in Scottie's bag; it also happens to be the 3-wood of choice for every men's major winner this year. The only other piece of gear that can lay that claim in 2025 is the Fujikura Ventus Black, which was also in each winner's driver.

Wedges

Titleist Vokey SM8 (50/12 F-grind, 56/14 F-grind), WedgeWorks SM10 60/06 K-grind.

One more fun fact about wedges.

As pointed out by Golf.com's Jack Hirsh, the win by Scottie this week at the BMW marks the fifth week in a row that a Vokey K or K*(Star) grind has been in the bag of a winner or tour.

Please let this serve as a reminder to regular golfers out there that bounce is your friend, especially with your higher lofted wedges. I mean the wedges worked pretty well on the 17th today.

Putter

This club has helped to put an exclamation point on one of the craziest stat turnarounds ever. In 2023 Scottie was 162nd in strokes gained putting (-0.301 strokes gained). In 2024, he was 77 (+0.095 Strokes Gained). And, now in 2025, he's currently 16th at +0.396 strokes gained.

When you factor in his driving and ball striking, no wonder this guy is tough to beat.

On The LPGA Tour

Speaking of Spiders (which is a club I feel I write about every week), over on the LPGA Tour, rookie Akie Iwai won her first LPGA Tour event by 4 shots, and like Scottie had a Spider putter in the bag. She was the only player who shot all four rounds in the 60s, and it was capped with a final round 66 on Sunday in Portland.

On The DP World Tour

Although it might be too little too late to earn a spot on the Ryder Cup team, Marco Penge won for the second time this season on the DP World Tour in Copenhagen at the Danish Golf Championship. He beat Rasmus Hojgaard by a single shot and with it also helped to secure the second win this season for a Mizuno driver - the ST-X 230, a driver that came out in 2023 and continues to be a top performer. I should mention, he also plays Mizuno’s newest S-3 forged cavity backs.

As for some stats, he ranks 8th in driving distance on the DP World Tour this year at just over 320 yards and now sits 3rd, behind only Scottie Scheffler and Rory Mcilroy in the Race to Dubai.

One last nugget. Just like Scottie Scheffler, Marco also plays a Vokey K*(Star) grind 60° lob wedge, making it a clean sweep for the popular lobber at the top level of men’s professional golf this week.
