Trend Tracker: This Fairway Wood Won Every 2025 Mens Major

Scottie Scheffler helped TaylorMade win a 2025 Grand Slam of its own.

I’m gonna cut right to the chase: When it comes to equipment, Scottie Scheffler is pretty darn boring. Since he finally switched to a mallet (a TaylorMade Spider Tour L-Neck), not much else in his bag has really changed. I mean sure, he added a 7-wood at one point this season and used a few a different lob wedges, but beyond that, it's business as usual for the best player in the world—and business as usual also means a lot of winning.

To me this is one of the many reasons Scottie Scheffler is kinda like prime Tiger Woods, because they’re both crazy good and don’t change up equipment that often. Even funnier, Scottie uses Tigers signature model TaylorMade blades the P7TW as his iron of choice.

In fact, at one point, an experienced gear writer searching for an edge even wrote a story on Tiger’s use of a Milwaukee Inkzall as his marker of choice (versus the conventional Sharpie). Shoutout to my friend Jonathan Wall for that story, a true sicko when it comes to digging in the TW gear dirt!

So where am I going with this?

We need to talk about Scottie's 3-wood, a TaylorMade Qi10.

You see, many years ago, as a free agent, Scottie was, like he still is now, not one to change clubs that often. Even when he was out on the Korn Ferry Tour, and then moved his way to the PGA TOUR, he was still using an old Nike VR Pro fairway wood that he first started using in high school - freaking, high school!

When that fairway wood eventually died in 2022 after Scottie signed an equipment deal with TaylorMade, he moved onto a TaylorMade Stealth and then eventually a Stealth 2 before settling into a TaylorMade Qi10 in early 2024.

Since its launch, it has cemented a place in Scottie's bag, plus snagged many more wins by players including Rory McIlroy, and 2025 U.S Open champ JJ Spaun, making it the choice of every major winner in 2025.

Fun switcheroo fact. JJ Spaun is sponsored by Srixon and uses a TaylorMade fairway wood, while Scottie is a TaylorMade athlete and plays two Srixon utilities for long irons.

What makes the Qi10 core model great and why its the choice for so many players has a lot to do with its overall blended performance off the tee and off the deck. Compared to the previous Stealth 2, the core Qi10 offered (and still offers) is a bigger footprint for added forgiveness. But, with a more forward center of gravity, it’s able to launch the ball higher and with less spin combined with more ball speed. Its this all in one nature that makes the club so great and why we’ve seen more players reluctant to change away from a club that works so well.

To put numbers into some perspective, TaylorMade fairway woods have been used to win 17 times on the PGA Tour in 2025 alone. Those are impressive numbers for any category.

It just goes to show that the old adage can still be true—if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And, for Scottie Scheffler, his Qi10 3-wood is definitely not broke!
