For the fifth and final women's major of the year - the AIG Women's Open, being held at Royal Porthcawl in Porthcawl, Wales, TaylorMade designers took every step they could to acknowledge the history of the host country as well as the golf course.
To me, what makes this collection stand out is the attention to the little details involving Welsh history and tradition. Utilizing shades of white, red, and green, it represents the Welsh flag, while the use of daffodils showcases the country's official flower.
Dragon graphics were also inspired by Y Ddraig Goch - the red dragon, found on the Welsh flag, who symbolizes strength, courage, and power.
Another reference is a love spoon on the bag's handle. I'm sure like many, you're wondering "what's a love spoon?" (Admittedly, I know I was). Well, a love spoon was a traditional gift a used to show romantic interest (at this point I think dating was probably easier in the 17th century), and was used as a way to showcase the gift-giver's talents as a wood carver, meaning they had a useful skill.
Not only is this a staff bag, it's quite a helpful history lesson too!
CYMRU is also embroidered on the valuable pouch, which is the Welsh spelling of "Wales", and the lining boasts a pattern inspired by the Prince of Wales texture.
Last but certainly not least, Royal Porthcawl is recognized with "1909" on the back valuables pouch to represent the date the golf course received royal recognition, along with waves on the base to symbolize the seaside links.
The full collection of gear is available now while supplies last at TaylorMadeGolf.com.
The golf bag is priced at $600, the driver cover is $80, and the rest of the covers including fairway woods, hybrid, and putters are priced at $70 each.
