As humans, we aim with our eyes—but it's not always as simple as aim and fire. Your brain is making hundreds of calculations to get to the point where you figuratively pull the trigger when you feel you're locked in, and with the help of eye-tracking research, PING is helping golfers find that moment.

This is the Ping Scottsdale TEC (Tour Elevated Concepts) putter line.

“The new Scottsdale TEC putters represent an exciting new opportunity for golfers to improve their putting. The use of eye-tracking research has given us some great insights into the best ways to help golfers improve their focus and sink more putts. We’ve also chosen to make this line exclusively mallets to better serve the growing market for these types of designs while continuing to offer stroke-type fitting through optimal CG placement. All the Scottsdale TEC models are designed with proven PING performance, including high MOIs and a fantastic feel." - PING CEO & President John K. Solheim

Eye Q Alignment Technology

To better help golfers get their eyes in the right position before the stroke, Ping engineers used Tobii eyetracking glasses to better understand how they could create alignment cues on the putters.

The end result are high-contrasting alignment lines and dots that are inline with the Quite Eye visual performance philosophy, they elongate the final gaze on the ball before striking the putt.

By placing a dot at the end of the long line it helps to focus the eyes on a singular spot.

“Our researchers and scientists look for inspiration outside of golf. Quiet Eye has been used extensively in other sports requiring precise movements to help athletes improve focus just before action. Whether it’s shooting a free throw in basketball or serving a tennis ball, many top athletes train using this technique. With the Scottsdale TEC line and Eye Q Technology, we’re providing golfers with an immediate solution to improve their putting.” -John K. Solheim

Distinctly NOT Zero Torque

Although at first glance you might assume the the Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue and Ketsch models are low / zero-torque, they're not. But they do offer an onset look.

With onset putters gaining in popularity, this type of design helps appeal to golfers looking for an additional alignment aid, while also utiizing Ping's multi-material engineering to provide added fogiveness and feel.

Why No Zero-Torque?

Ping's design philosophy believes that the player should "pull" the center of gravity towards the target to maximize stability and forgiveness. This theory was something PING founder Karsten Solheim believed in very strongly.

The analogy Karsten would often use is that of a wheelbarrow and demonstrate that it's easiler to pull a wheelbarrow over a curb (because you are pulling the mass), rather than try and push the mass over.

My grandfather was a firm believer in the role the CG position plays in the performance of a putter, and we continue to apply that philosophy today in all our putter designs. Ensuring the proper CG placement relative to the shaft axis is critical to performance. Pulling the CG provides more stability through the stroke and helps keep putts on line and rolling into the hole.

Ally Blue Onset

This squared mallet provides square lines to make alignment easy.

Ally Blue Onset CB (Counter Balanced)

All of the alignment and multi-material technology of the Ally Blue Onset but with a mid-length shaft (37.75") and a 17-inch SuperStroke grip. The longer length and grip offer the ability to grip down, which places more mass above the hands to add stroke stability.

Ketsch Onset

The Ketsch design uses one long line plus two additional lines along the front of the putter to make aiming easier. The shaft orientation allows a clear view of the ball from address while the putter design combines mallet forgiveness with blade feel.

Hayden

This heel-shafted model used contrasting colors and a long alignment line to create a center focus and making aiming over the ball easier.
