Yellow The Label Drops a Golf-Inspired Capsule, And It's Anything But Par For The Course

With no polos or tailored skirts in sight, this is a drop that seamlessly blends very strong nods to the game and golf culture with wearable street style looks.

When non-golf brands make the decision to incorporate golf scenes into their styles I fight the urge to want to immediately judge them.

I know, I know. It's not a good practice, but I guess I'm a traditionalist in that sense. If you're going to go down the golf road as an apparel brand, I want it to be done not just right, but also done well. With purpose and intention, because us golfers are finicky...about everything. (It's why we all hate grip changes...but I digress.)

I've been getting served Instagram ads like you wouldn't believe of this darling little mini skirt with some figures playing golf, and to my surprise, I immediately loved it.

Yellow The Label is a small business operated out of Florida that does inspired designs that are fun, fresh, and above all else really lively. Their model is to blend unique products with a play on novelty, art, texture, retro inspiration, and modern statement pieces—which stuck out to me as soon as I saw their "mini golf" capsule.

At first my mind registered these looks as a small nod to Werner Bronkhorst, the viral artist that creates minimal sports scenes using an excessive amount of paint. It's all quite impressive.

The massive areas of negative space, combined with tiny figurines doing an activity is Bronkhort's MO and Yellow pulled it off beautifully.

This is a mini capsule that isn't pretending to be for golfers. With a lack of polos and pleats, and more of a focus on simple, embroidered designs each piece is fusing together sport with art and fashion. It's a revitalized way of looking at golf as an art form, and I dig it so much. It's playful and whimsy the way hyper-niche drops should be.

So, as a plea to brands and labels looking to dabble in golf-inspired creations, ditch trying to emulate what you think golfers want, and take this approach instead. Because this is the good stuff.
