I opened up the Sugarloaf Social Clubs' latest Tournament Oxford Shirt and put it straight on and here are my thoughts...
The Oxford shirt has always carried a bit more story than you expect. It started as a textured fabric experiment out of Scotland, built for durability and feel rather than flash. Over time, it found its way onto polo fields where players needed a collar that would actually stay in place during a match. That small functional detail ended up shaping one of the most recognizable shirts in menswear. From there, it moved into everyday life as something dependable, proper, and pretty, locked into its identity.
Which is why this Sugarloaf Social Club version feels like it is pushing against all of that.

Because the traditional Oxford lives in a pretty tight lane. Structured. Crisp. Predictable. This one opens things up. The fisherman’s vent brings airflow and movement. The 60/40 cotton/poly blend leans into comfort over tradition. It does not feel like it belongs at a desk or inside any kind of strict dress code. It feels like it was made for long days outside, standing behind the ropes, letting the fabric do its thing.

It holds onto just enough of the original DNA to feel familiar, but shifts the purpose in a real way.
And it is exactly why I love it. Fashion is a constant manipulation of what has existed, what we want, and how we can make it.
