The Masters may start on Thursday, but the tradition unlike any other truly begins Tuesday evening with the Champions Dinner.

This year, two days before the 90th edition, it was Rory McIlroy who hosted the legendary lineup of past champions. His menu included Grilled Elk Sliders, Wagyu Filet Mignon, Sticky Toffee Pudding, and a wine list that came with a hefty price tag—for those who don't know, the host foots the bill for the night.

By all accounts, the food was delicious and McIlroy did a wonderful job with his speech.

One of the coolest traditions in our sport, the Masters Champions Dinner began in 1952 thanks Mr. Ben Hogan. On March 31 of that year, Hogan sent a letter inviting the past champions and Bobby Jones and Cliff Roberts, the co-founders of Augusta National, to a dinner at the club.

“My only stipulation is that you wear your green coat,” Hogan wrote.

The only thing better than the letter is the photo from that night—a truly iconic moment.

Come Sunday evening, we'll know who will earn hosting duties in 2027.
