The WTGL train keeps on trucking along.
Since the league was first announced last month, there's been some sort of new addition as to what's coming next winter. Last week, we got the news of two new signees entering the fold in Lottie Woad and Rose Zhang.
This week, TGL announced that Atlanta Drive GC owner Arthur M. Blank of AMB Sports, who also has primary holdings in the Atlanta Falcons (NFL), Atlanta United (MLS), and a recently awarded expansion franchise in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) set to debut in 2028, will also add a WTGL team to his impressive portfolio.
So does this mean that WTGL will follow in TGL footsteps in keeping cities/team names the same? I sure hope it does.
I strongly believe that the women's league will have a better prognosis if it mirrors what TGL is doing right. Creating all new marketing schemes, meanwhile a team already exists would be a bit ridiculous, especially when folks are still catching onto the whole "team" thing in the first place.

This whole this is still developing, but what does seem like a good sign is that Blank is signed on. The news of an Atlanta-based NWSL team is exciting, especially as the women's soccer product begins to grow.
Blank said this about the WTGL announcement, "The growth of women’s sports over the past few years has been remarkable, and as we’ve seen through our other golf properties, women and girls are participating in the game at a higher rate than ever before. We are excited to provide a platform for the top golfers in the women’s game to showcase their talent and personalities while competing for championships for Atlanta."
The Atlanta Drive GC team won the inaugural SoFi Cup last year, and Blank continued to say, "We aim to replicate that success with our WTGL team beginning this upcoming winter."
