LeBron James is Going to Philly—We Think It’s For All the Incredible Golf

Sure, the 76ers will have the chance to win a title, but we think LeBron James picked Philly for the golf—and who could blame him with this lineup?

After The Decision Part II, LeBron James is headed to Philadelphia to play for the 76ers. Sure, that starting lineup is going to be nasty—Bron, Brown, Maxey, Embiid, Edgecomb—but I think the 41-year-old is going to the City of Brotherly Love for the golf.

LeBron wasn’t just bitten by the golf bug, he’s now full-blown obsessed. He made a video with the Bob Does Sports guys, he made shoes for Nelly Korda to rock in the U.S. Women’s Open, and he watches along like all of us.

And now he’s in Philly, one of the most golf-rich cities in the country. With the NBA’s season not starting until October, The King has plenty of time to see what the area offers in the way of golf.

So, to help Bron on his East Coast golf journey, here’s a list of the best courses in and around Philly that I’m sure would love to host one of the GOATs.

Pine Valley

Sure, Pine Valley is in New Jersey, but it’s only half an hour from Philly and is one of the best courses in the world. The short trip is worth the squeeze, Bron.

Merion Golf Club

Not to brag, but I played Merion earlier this week and it deserves all the hype and more. The best part? It’s not super long—it’s still hard af, don’t get me wrong—which makes it a very enjoyable walk.

Aronimink Golf Club

The Mink, as it was lovingly called a few months ago, just hosted the PGA Championship. I was lucky enough to be there for a few days, and I instantly fell in love with the place. It’s super imitate, very Northeast, and felt like a course you could play every day (if you don’t mind shooting some high scores).

Philadelphia Cricket Club

When I think of Philly golf, it’s hard for me not to go right to Philly Cricket. This place is legendary, pure, and as enjoyable of a walk as you’ll find.

Philadelphia Country Club

Philly CC will co-host the U.S. Amateur with Merion next month, and not only that, it’s one of the oldest courses in the States (1890).
