HOUSTON, Texas — Thank you, Stacy Lewis.
The world of women's golf couldn't have asked for a better player ambassador, who showed us exactly what it looks like to grow into such a role. She wasn't anointed as the face of the game out right, she took her success and what comes with being a top-ranked player, and become a vocal advocate for herself and her peers.
In her open letter announcing her retirement last September Lewis wrote, " "I’ve cared for the LPGA Tour like it was my own child and I’m so proud of the progress we have made, but to my fellow players, we aren’t done! I hope you all continue to push the tour forward and do all that you can to help on and off the course!"

Her final event was meant to be the LOTTE Championship last fall, but Chevron, a major that she credits for launching her career felt like home, being re-located to Houston, and Lewis wanted one more dance in front of her family.
"But this week was just about having my family out and for my parents. In Houston was where it really all started for me, so kind of came full circle. This tournament is so important four me. It was my first win and really set off my career," she said after Friday's second round. [It's] just a meaningful week. And I wish I would've played a little bit better, but I guess I have a little bit of an excuse."
Lewis is four months pregnant with her second child, so I think we can all give her a pass on shooting 79-77.
The world of golf will miss her, and some took to social media to express their gratitude.
