She's been one of the most consistent, and vocal players to help aid the growth of the LPGA Tour and women's golf as a whole, and we're all forever indebted to Stacy Lewis for what she's done over the last 20 years.

Lewis took to social media to announce her retirement, doing so in the place where it all began for her.

She stormed onto the scene at the University of Arkansas, where she won 12 collegiate events and was a four-time All-American. And now, ahead of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, the very tournament she won her first pro event as an amateur back in 2007, Lewis will be hanging it up for good at the end of this season.

Despite her career starting during a time of uncertainty, when the LPGA was undergoing leadership changes and lack-luster playing schedule, Lewis has had one of the most formidable careers of her generation.

Going up against competitors like Yani Tseng, Brittany Lincicome, Paula Creamer, and Inbee Park—Lewis has accumulated 13 LPGA titles, including two majors. She's played in the Olympics, two International Crowns, four Solheim Cups, and was awarded Rolex Player of the Year twice.

Most recently, Lewis is responsible for snapping a very dominant European Solheim Cup winning streak last September in Northern Virginia. Leading the Americans to their first win since 2017.

The former world No.1 had one final rallying cry for her fellow Tour players writing, "I’ve cared for the LPGA Tour like it was my own child and I’m so proud of the progress we have made, but to my fellow players, we aren’t done! I hope you all continue to push the tour forward and do all that you can to help on and off the course!"

Her presence will be missed, but certainly never forgotten.
