On Tuesday, Louisiana Economic Development released a statement announcing that LIV Golf is postponing its scheduled event in the state, which had been set for June 25–28 — the week following the U.S. Open.
"(LED) Secretary Bourgeois spoke with LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil on Friday and was informed that the organization seeks to postpone its June 2026 event in New Orleans to explore a potential event this fall," the statement read. "The state has already paid $3.2 million in accordance with the contract. LIV is expected to return all state incentive funds, with the exception of the $2 million already invested in upgrades for City Park, ensuring those improvements remain in place for the community. We appreciate LIV's good-faith efforts and look forward to maintaining our partnership as we continue conversations around an event later this year."
LIV currently has funding through the end of 2026, but its future is increasingly uncertain after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund withdrew its backing.

Without the stop at Bayou Oaks at City Park, LIV's summer schedule will have a significant gap — no event between LIV Golf Andalucía in Spain (June 4–7) and LIV Golf United Kingdom in England (July 23–26). For players, two major championships fall within that stretch, and it wouldn't be surprising to see some of them tee it up on the DP World Tour to fill the time.
