We're officially one week out from the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, and I think it's safe to say that we're all chomping at the bit.
As anticipation continues to build for what's to come—we chatted with a few of the loopers who know the Long Island track expertly well. And to absolutely no ones surprise, the clear consensus is that this course is hard.
But why?
Quite a few of the caddies we spoke to were quick to name the rough as the courses biggest defense. It's not long as what we saw at Oakmont, but rather shorter and more dense. It practically swallows your ball and if you find yourself in the thick stuff...well, good luck!
It's long. It has a shocking amount of elevation for a course on the south side of Long Island. From the low point of the first fairway to the high point near the ninth green, the Black Course averages out at 77 feet of elevation change.
The walk is demanding, and poses quite the physical test, which helps make up for the rather simple, and break-less greens.
"No break Bethpage" will probably be a putting clinic for these pros, but the challenge lies in getting up to the greens.
The stage is set. LFG.
