This is the Exact TV Booth Fans Should Want at the Ryder Cup

Nick Faldo will be back in the booth for the Ryder Cup, and that’s exactly what fans should want.

The best part of watching your local baseball team on TV is that the folks calling the games are fans of the team. As a Red Sox fan, growing up with Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy was the highlight of my summers.

The Ryder Cup is set to give off a similar vibe.

NBC Sports announced Wednesday that Nick Faldo is returning to the booth and joining Notah Begay III and Terry Gannon as his analyst pairing—Dan Hicks, Brad Faxon, and Paul McGinley make up the other team.

Ryder Cup: Team USA, Team Europe | Final Tune-Up Results

The dynamic of having Team USA and Team Europe representation in the booth will only make the action down on the course that much more entertaining. During normal events, the broadcasters have to stay impartial—that won’t be the case at Bethpage Black.

And it’s exactly what the fans at home should want.

Imagine it’s Sunday, and Scottie Scheffler is taking on Jon Rahm in a singles match. Scheffler buries a birdie putt on the 17th hole to win, and Begay and Gannon are going nuts while Faldo falls silent. Now that’s what I’m talking about—I’ll deal with the European broadcasters getting lit when we get there.

We’re just over a week away from the first session, and this news has only built up more anticipation. It’s going to be a long eight days.
