Patrick Reed is Coming Back to the PGA TOUR

At the Dubai Invitational, Patrick Reed called the PGA TOUR, “the best tour in the world.” Now, just days later, he’s committed to return at the end of August.

"After careful thought and consideration, my family and I have decided that I will no longer compete on the LIV Golf Tour...I’m a traditionalist at heart, and I was born to play on the PGA TOUR, which is where my story began with my wife, Justine," Reed wrote in a social media post Wednesday.

"I am very fortunate for the opportunities that have come my way and grateful for the life we have created. I am moving forward in my career, and I look forward to competing on the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour. I can’t wait to get back out there and revisit some of the best places on earth."

Unlike Brooks Koepka, who was able to come back right away thanks to the Returning Members Program—Reed’s major championship win came in 2018, so he doesn’t qualify for the 2022-2025 window—the nine-time TOUR winner will have to wait. The exact date he’s eligible to return is August 25, one year after his most recent LIV start in Michigan.

Reed will be eligible to play in the FedExCup Fall as a non-member, and can reinstate his membership in 2027 playing out of the past champion category. As a DP World Tour member, Reed can also earn a TOUR membership via the DP World Tour Top 10. Thanks to his win last week in Dubai, he currently ranks second on that list.

However, like Koepka, Reed, as a returning member who played in "unauthorized tournaments," is ineligible to participate in the Player Equity Program through 2030. Any other players who return will suffer the same penalty.

The TOUR also provided updates on three other players who were affiliated with LIV. The following is from a memo sent to the PGA TOUR membership:

Kevin Na last participated in an unauthorized event on August 24, 2025. His membership has been reinstated; however, he is currently facing disciplinary action for outstanding violations of the Regulations. We will provide more clarity on Kevin’s return date when appropriate.

Pat Perez reinstated his membership in January 2026 and is in the process of serving his disciplinary action for outstanding violations of the Regulations. He is currently eligible to return to PGA TOUR-sanctioned competition on January 1, 2027.

Hudson Swafford reinstated his membership in January 2025 and is in the process of serving his disciplinary action for outstanding violations of the Regulations. He is currently eligible to return to PGA TOUR-sanctioned competition on January 1, 2027.
