On Tuesday, Sergio Garcia issued an apology on social media for his erratic behavior during the final round of the Masters on Sunday.
“I regret the way I acted and it has no place in our game,” Garcia—more likely his PR team—wrote. “It doesn’t reflect the respect and appreciation I have for The Masters, the patrons, tournament officials and golf fans around the world.”
Garcia, the 2017 Masters champion, smashed the second tee box with his driver, then snapped it over the water cooler—a wild outburst for an owner of a Green Jacket (but not surprising given the Spaniard’s past).

On the fourth hole, Garcia got a talking to by Geoff Yang, the chairman of the competition committee at the Masters.
After the round, he said, “Just obviously not super proud of it, but sometimes it happens.”
