Three Players To Watch at The Genesis Invitational

Tommy, Knapp, and JDay—here's why all three guys will finish inside the top 20 at Riviera.

Picking winners on the PGA TOUR is a tall task. In a previous life, that was a big part of my job. But over the last year or so, I’ve made the conscious decision to ignore the outright winner tab in my sportsbook apps.

Starting this week, though, I’m bringing a new outlook.

Going forward, I’ll be picking three players to finish inside the top-20 each week. Majors, Signature events, silly season—I’m doing it all. It’s only fitting that I start with the Genesis Invitational, since it’s one of my favorite weeks of the year. I mean, how can you not love Riviera?

So, without further ado, let’s jump into it.

Tommy Fleetwood (-115)

Right around even money for Tommy to finish inside the top 20? Yeah, I’ll take that.

He made his TOUR season debut last week at Pebble and tied for fourth. In four previous starts at Riviera, he’s improved his finish every time: T-37 (2018), T-28 (2019), T-20 (2023), and T-10 (2024).

Plus, the guy was wearing a cashmere Malbon sweater on Tuesday. That’s the look of a winner.

Jake Knapp (+130)

Believe it or not, Jake Knapp has been one of the best players on TOUR in 2026. He tied for 11th at the Sony, finished T-5 at the Farmers, posted a solo eighth in Phoenix, and earned a share of eighth at Pebble last week.

This will be the California kid’s first start at Riviera, but I think his game fits the course pretty well. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s in contention for his second TOUR win come Sunday.

Jason Day (+185)

The Aussie opened the new season with a T-2 finish at the American Express, but hasn’t been able to crack the top 20 in his last two starts (T-38, T-24). As for his resume at Riv, JDay finished ninth in 2024 and tied for ninth in 2023.

If you're feeling a little frisky, a parlay of these three picks comes out to +1125 ($10 bet pays $112.55).
