HOUSTON, Texas — Nelly Korda is making Memorial Park look like a video game.
Posting back-to-back 65s to take a commanding six shot lead heading into the weekend, at a major no less, isn't normal. And yet, she's making it look like the easiest thing in the world.

But let me tell you, this course and the way it' has been set up is anything but easy. There's so much variation in the way the course has been dressed for this occasion. The par 3s are deep, but the par 5s can be gettable, and players are being forced to think a little bit more—the way a major championship should be.
When asked how a championship of this caliber should be set up, Korda simply said "long". And certainly the length is part of it, but there's also some massive undulation to the green complexes and what may look like a good shot in the air, can end up being anything but.
Now that 36 holes have been completed, a total of 72 players made the cut at the Chevron Championship. With the World No. 2 setting the tone at 14-under par, the cut line for the first major of the season was set to 2-over. Here's a list of notable players who won't see the weekend in Houston:
Jeeno Thitikul (3-over)
Although her recent form hasn’t matched the level she showed earlier this year, this still comes as a surprise.
Still in search of her first major, the World No. 1 couldn't shake her putting woes. Over the span of two days, Thitikul took 66 putts to go 74-73 for the championship.

Rose Zhang (3-over)
This is back to back weeks of missed cuts for Zhang. With Mizuho on the horizon, where she collected her first LPGA title, hopefully we can see her back in contention soon.
Lydia Ko (3-over)
It's never easy missing a cut, especially on your birthday! But Ko was still in good spirits taking to Instagram, writing the caption, "Apparently I wanted to take my birthday weekend off."
She also thanked Chevron, and for good reason, regardless if a player makes the weekend each one received a $10,000 stipend to spend however they wanted.

Linn Grant (5-over)
This was another surprising one, especially after day one when the Swede shared part of the lead early on.

In Gee Chun (6-over)
With all the chatter about her potentially nabbing the career grand slam this week, it would have been awesome to see her give it a run, but she has another chance at AIG later this summer.
Anna Nordqvist (7-over)
The 2026 European Solheim Captain has strange trend happening in her game right now of missing a cut, and then finishing inside the top-20 in her very next start.
She finished T-18 last week in LA, but unfortunately couldn't carry that to Houston.
Lilia Vu (9-over)
As a former champion of this event, I was hoping that she could have a run here but it just wasn't in the cards this year.
Stacy Lewis (12-over)
It's the end of the road for the former World No. 1 as Chevron was her last dance...ever. Thank you, Stacy, for all that you've done for this Tour.
