Watching putter trends on the PGA Tour over the last decade has made for some very interesting observations. Unlike in the consumer market where mallets have been popular for years with recreational golfers looking for more forgiveness and help with alignment - tour players have been slower to adapt.
But, in 2024 the script has been flipped.
Mallet putters out-paced blades more than three to one when it comes to wins, and mallets were used to win three out of the four majors in 2024. It goes to show that although professional golfers aren’t always quick to adapt to equipment trends when it comes to adding forgiveness and playability if they can find an edge, they'll take it.
So with that in mind, let's dive into which equipment companies racked up the most putter wins on the PGA Tour this season.
Featured Brands: Taylormade | Odyssey | Callaway | Ping | Scotty Cameron | Titleist | LAB | LA Golf
With some big help from the number one player in the world Scottie Scheffler who won 7 times (accounting for more than 40% of the total wins), TaylorMade snagged the 2024 season-long putter win total. The extra putter win was thanks to the double dip at the Zurich Classic team event won by Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry - who switched to a spider not long before the win.
Here's another crazy stat - Every single TaylorMade putter win was with a mallet and all but one came from the Spider series. The lone wolf was Aaron Rai who won using a TaylorMade TP Series DuPage at the Wyndham Championship.
The putter of choice for Scottie Scheffler, the L-Neck Spider offers easy alignment and forgiveness thanks to it's geometric shape.

BUY NOWXander Schauffele helped Odyssey bag two majors in 2024 with his wins at the PGA and Open Championships, but what makes Odyssey's win stats so interesting is how many various model and face inserts were used.
Between Nick Dunlap using an O-Works model (released in 2017) to Xander using the new Ai One, there was a big mix which shows how sound, feel, and alignment preferences vary by player. The runaway head style on tour was the JailBird which made a big comeback last year after both Rickie Fowler and Wyndham Clark used them in the final grouping of the US Open.
Odyssey also bookended the 2024 season with Chris Kirk winning in Hawaii, and Maverick McNealy winning at Sea Island with his Odyssey Toulon Prototype.
The Jailbird is a classic Odyssey shape and the Cruiser model is 38" long with a 380 gram head weight built with a 17" grip to encourage a more balanced stroke.

BUY NOWWith the help of two-time winner Austin Eckroat, Ping complied six wins this year on the PGA Tour with the PLD line being the most popular series of putters from the brand.
The odd one out from Ping came from Austin Eckroat when he won his first event in March at the Cognizant with a Redwood D66, because the Redwood series was originally released way back in 2006! Quite coincidental that his first PGA Tour win was with a putter from Ping’s first fully milled series and his most recent win came with from their newest.
The PING PLD Series offers tour-proven designs built to fit any putting stroke, alignment type, and feel preference.

BUY NOWScotty Cameron putters racked up seven wins but no majors in 2024, but Hideki Matsuyama did win two signature events (The Genesis at Riveria and FedEx St. Jude Championship) with two different models - which if you follow Hideki and his rotating cast of putters is very par for the course.

Although Scotty Cameron blade models were used by more winners, the Phantom mallet series was one of the most used mallet putters on the PGA Tour in 2024 which is a big shift considering the hold Cameron blades have had on tour players over the last decade with models like the Newport and Newport two.
Made to promote a more flowing stroke with a blade-like feel with the added stability of a mallet, the Phantom 5.5 is a tour-trusted shape used by many of the world's best.

BUY NOWOther putter wins on tour were accrued by LAB and LA Golf. The LA Golf win was thanks to Bryson’s amazing play at the US Open at Pinehurst, and the LAB wins were achieved by the late Grayson Murray at the Sony Open and then by Jhonattan Vegas at the 3M Open.
Although they have grown in popularity quite exponentially, alternative putter styles including armlock and broomstick putters were still only used to win three times total on tour in 2024. The winners were Akshay Bhatia with an Odyssey Long, Bryson DeChambeau with an LA Golf armlock blade, and lastly Keegan Bradley won the BMW Championship during the FedEx Cup Playoffs with an Armlock Odyssey JailBird.
So just like how tour players caught onto trends from regular golfers, if you haven't had the chance to test some new putters recently - especially if you're still using an older model blade, nows the perfect time to see how they work for you.
The LINK.1. offers one of the most popular putter shapes of all time, but with the added benefit of L.A.B. Golf's torque balance technology.
