Mizuno Finally Has Its Own Golf Heaven in the Atlanta-Based Foundry

Mizuno has fully cemented their roots in The Foundry, a premium fitting, building, and R&D facility.

Almost every major OEM has its spot. TaylorMade has the Kingdom, Callaway has ECPC (Ely Callaway Performance Center), PING has The Proving Grounds, PXG has Scottsdale National, and Titleist has TPI. But we can now add one more to the list with the Mizuno Foundry, their state of the art fitting and testing facility located at the Standard Club just outside of Atlanta, Georgia.

What is the Foundry?

The name is derived from Mizuno’s long history in forging golf clubs, because every forged iron comes out of a foundry. Even the logo showcases a step during the forging process where a carbon steel rod (the base of a solid forged iron) is bent as the first step to creating a golf club.

There are also many nods to Mizuno’s Japanese roots, including images from Mizuno’s exclusive foundry in Japan as well as all of the wood accents are imported Shou Sugi Ban finished boards. The way the ancient process preserves the wood and highlights the grain feels like a tip of the cap to how Mizuno has always stressed refining metal grain as part of their forging process.

As for what takes place day in and day out, the facility offers consumers the opportunity to get a tour level fitting using every possible tool at Mizuno’s disposal including TrackMan, Mizuno’s Swing DNA, along with a SAM PuttLab and PuttView green. The crazy part, at least in my opinion, is that the $350 for a 2-hour in-depth fitting is an absolute steal in the fitting marketplace.

Beyond Fitting

Along with the fitting capabilities, the Foundry is also home to a full R&D lab with a multi-sport robot capable of hitting not only golf clubs but baseball bats too! Even though I was told bat testing was reserved for days when the rest of the range was closed, I could only imagine the sound of a robot cracking a baseball over 400 feet while trying to hit wedges.

Plus, we can't forget the build shop.

The building has a full build shop setup modeled after the Mizuno Tour Workshop to build and fine tune clubs for customers and any visiting tour players. So for any golfer looking for the full Mizuno club fitting experience, the Foundry is your ultimate destination.
