Bench Tested: Talking Cobra Wedges with Jason Dufner

Major Champion Jason Dufner breaks down his short game techniques and talks about the tools that help him keep his wedge game dialed in.

With equipment manufacturers creating greater segmentation in their product lines and more products to go with it, trying to figure out what should work best for you can feel like a complicated process. This is where seeking out an experienced fitter can be a big help.

But, we also understand that a lot of golfers are simply looking for a place to start when it comes to trying to understand how certain models are designed to work for them and how they compare to each other, which is why at Skratch, we’ve created Bench Tested. This series is dedicated to walking you through various models of clubs, balls, and any other gear to help you better understand how they stack up and educate you on what to look for when shopping for new gear.

For this Bench Tested episode, we happen to have a special guest, Major Champion and PGA Tour winner Jason Dufner, to not only talk about how he selects the Cobra King Wedges that work for his short game, but also explain his wedge technique.

What Makes KING Wedges Different

Cobra KING Wedges utilize 8620 steel that goes through the MIM (Metal Injection Molding) process to create a club head that, from the start, delivers superior precision and feel. By utilizing the MIM process, the engineers at Cobra are able to bring the part closer to the final spec using fewer processes, and fewer processes means less margin for error and up to 50% tighter tolerances for final mass.

The precision doesn’t stop at the head as a whole either. The grooves are milled right to the limit, with added face texture for added friction and to go along with flight window technology. This FWT moves the center of gravity higher in the higher lofted heads to reduce deflection on higher face strikes to create a more powerful trajectory for improved distance control.
