The last time the Americans played on home soil it was absolutely electric. Bryson bombs, Schauffele's cigar celly—2021 at Whistling Straits was a Ryder Cup for the ages.
But there's one thing that has stuck with me all these years later...the cashmere hoodies. The RLX scripting for the stars and stripes was impeccable. Pinstriped trousers, piqued polos with subtle detailing, man we had it good.
This year, the practice unis seem to hit harder than the tournament fits, and the...unique paint brush striped design feels reminiscent of those disposable cups from the 90s (you know the ones).
It's not all bad, but 2021 was something special. The vibes were simply unmatched, from the team fits to the on-course energy, everything clicked for Team USA—especially those hoodies.
This isn't just some fever dream either, I remember all anyone could talk about was the sleek mid-layer. Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas couldn't get enough of the garment that week, rocking it often to keep the chill off them.

It was the kind of golf hoodie that toed the line between casual and elegant. With enough of an athletic silhouette that it looked performance ready, while also having a sophisticated design that it was polished and refined. The right balance of golf attire that would wear well just about anywhere—jeans or joggers, you could top either off with it.
But it also wasn't so 'Merica, in your face, stars and stripes the whole nine yards. The patriotic symbolism was comprised of thoughtful and intentional detailing with the drawstring hood lined with red and white. The embroidery consisted of a Ryder Cup patch on the left chest, “USA 20” on right cuff, and the phrase "United We Stand” written on the back.
It was the glue to an extremely cohesive team scripting, and I don't think I'll ever get over it.

We flew too close to the sun in '21—but this year's rendition of the iconic hoodie isn't too shabby, either.
