The Best “Not For Golf” Golf Shoes Right Now

A mix of trail runners, hikers, and lifestyle sneakers that work surprisingly well for casual rounds, tournament days, and everyday wear.

There’s a lane of footwear right now that honestly feels more exciting than actual golf shoes. Trail runners, hiking hybrids, lifestyle sneakers with aggressive outsoles. Stuff designed for movement, travel, weather, and everyday life that just so happens to work really well on a golf course.

And no, I’m not saying replace your spiked shoes before your member guest or go walk 36 in soaking wet conditions. But for laid back rounds, range sessions, par 3 afternoons, or just spending all day at a tournament, these kinds of shoes make a ton of sense.

The common thread here is versatility. Most of these models were originally built for trail running or outdoor movement, which means comfort is already dialed. Cushioning is better than most golf shoes. Grip is usually more than enough for dry conditions. And aesthetically, they feel more connected to how people actually dress right now. A little more relaxed. A little more lived in.

You see it everywhere now too. Salomons with pleated trousers. XT-6s at tournaments. ACG pairs with vintage tech pants. HOKAs with athletic socks and oversized hoodies. The line between golf footwear and everyday footwear keeps getting blurrier.

That’s probably a good thing. 'NOT FOR GOLF'. But they work just enough.
