Masters Style Preview: Day 2 Was All About Sweaters
The most timeless layer in golf showed up exactly when it should.
The Tuesday practice rounds at Augusta had a clear theme...sweaters. Not in a forced or coordinated way, but in the kind of organic way that tells you players are dressing for feel as much as function. Cashmere, V-necks, lightweight knits… it was everywhere. Even Fleetwood leaned into it, pulling what felt like a straight-from-the-Merch-Shop moment.

And honestly, it makes perfect sense. This is exactly what sweaters are built for. That in-between weather where you need something light, breathable, and easy to move in. It’s one of the few pieces in golf that checks every box. Comfort, simplicity, and a kind of timelessness that doesn’t need explaining.
What stood out just as much, though, was the color, or lack of it. Augusta has one of the richest natural palettes in sport, and yet we still tend to default to creams, grays, and blacks. There’s room to push that. Burgundy, royal purple, tones that actually live well against the landscape without trying too hard.
Sweaters led the day, but there were still a few hoodies and quarter-zips in the mix. The layering conversation is starting early this week, and it’s one I’ll be watching closely as things tighten up.
