Picks to Win & Best Bets for the Wyndham Championship

Here’s our preview for the PGA TOUR’s final regular-season event, including several picks to win at Sedgefield Country Club.

This week’s Wyndham Championship is all about the bubble boys. Those big names on either side of the top-70 divide who need big weeks in Greensboro, North Carolina, to cement their names on the tee sheet at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first of three postseason events.

Sedgefield Country Club will host some stars for this year’s edition of the Wyndham, including Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Jake Knapp, Matt Fitzpatrick, Keegan Bradley, and Akshay Bhatia, among others.

Yes, the winner will receive $1.476 million of the $8.2 million purse, but some of the guys are more locked in on the 500 FedEx Cup points up for grabs for first place.

Let’s jump into our preview, which includes a few picks to win.

Picks to Win the Wyndham Championship

Nicolai Hojgaard (55/1)

Since missing the cut at the RBC Canadian Open, Nicolai has played some great golf. He tied for 24th at the Rocket Classic, for fourth at the Scottish Open, and for 14th at The Open in his last three starts. And sure, he missed the cut at the Wyndham last season—despite being 1-under through 36 holes—but in 2023, the young man from Denmark earned a share of 14th.

Davis Thompson (70/1)

Thompson enters this week off the heels of back-to-back missed cuts, but I’m not too worried about that. He was 2-under through 36 holes at the 3M, and the other came at The Open. Majors are always tough spots for young players. Anyway, before heading across the pond, Thompson tied for 18th at the John Deere Classic and grabbed another top-25 finish at the Travelers. Plus, he’s played some great golf around Sedgefield over the last few years, tying for 22nd in 2023 and for 12th in 2024.

Max Homa (75/1)

I wanna feel something this week, so I’m riding with Max. It feels like he needs a win to get in, and I’m down to ride that ride this weekend. Last week in Minnesota, he hit the ball great, but struggled with the putter (63rd in Strokes Gained: Putting (-1.874)). He found nearly 70% of fairways and 85% of greens. That’ll work around Sedgefield. It’ll just come down to the flat stick. Let’s hope that thing gets hot.

Adam Svensson (170/1)

This is a value play, nothing more than a little sprinkle. The Canadian opened last week’s 3M with a 60, but had a rough Friday (75). Two good rounds over the weekend, however, were good enough for a T-14 finish. Now he’s at the Wyndham, a tournament where he’s 4/4 making it to the weekend and has finished T-7 the last two years. Again, don’t go crazy here, it’s 170/1.
