Thank God it’s football season because I don’t know what to do with myself when there’s no golf to watch all week. Luckily, the PGA TOUR is back in action south of the border and returning to a golf course brought to life by a gentleman named Eldrick.

The Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal at Diamante Cabo San Lucas in Los Cabos, Mexico, will welcome the world’s best Thursday morning, a field that includes a couple United States Ryder Cuppers and a few rising stars.

J.J. Spaun, an automatic qualifier for Keegan Bradley’s squad and the reigning U.S. Open champion, last played at the Procore Championship—Team USA used it as a tune up for Bethpage Black—and finished sixth. He played at Tiger’s track the last two years, finishing T-30 in 2024 and T-67 in 2023.

One of Bradley’s captain’s picks, Ben Griffin, like Spaun, hasn’t played since that week in Napa. The 29-year-old fell to World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler at Silverado by a shot and finished the week with a silver medal. In his last 13 starts, Griffin has finished T-14 or better 11 times. I guess you could say the kid is feeling it. In two previous appearances at El Cardonal, Griffin has two top-25 finishes.

Spaun and Griffin are co-betting-favorites at 13/1 (+1300).

Some of the other names on the tee sheet include Luke Clanton, Wyndham Clark, Joel Dahmen, Team Europe captain Luke Donald, Nick Dunlap, defending champion Austin Eckroat, Adam Hadwin, Si Woo Kim, Keith Mitchell, and Nick Taylor. Michael Brennan, winner of the Bank of Utah Championship as a sponsor exemption in just his third TOUR start, is also in the field.

As for the golf course, El Cardonal is a par-72 track that measures 7,452 yards on the scorecard.

It should be a fun week down in Mexico.

Here’s a look at the full field for the World Wide Technology Championship.
