Wednesday at the Masters is one of the best days in sports. Yes, it’s the final day of preparation for the year’s first major championship, but it’s also an incredible opportunity for the best players in the world to spend time with their families and loved ones at the Par 3 Contest.
It’s the best—unless you ask Alan Shipnuck.
There have been some incredible moments at this event throughout its history, including Jack Nicklaus’ grandson making a hole-in-one and Tony Finau dislocating his ankle during an ace celebration.
We’ve seen it all.
Masters ‘25: How to Watch the First Round
After missing her husband's win last season due to her delivery date quickly approaching, Meredith Scheffler is back at Scottie's side with their son, Bennett. The World No. 1 played with good buddies Sam Burns and Tom Kim.
Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and Max Homa were the first group out and had the whole clan with them. Homa announced earlier this week that he has baby No. 2 on the way.
Gary Player, of course, was out there entertaining the patrons, but there were some other legends dialing in their wedge game.
Rory McIlroy, who starts his chase for the Career Grand Slam Thursday afternoon, played with great friends Shane Lowry and Tommy Fleetwood. Watching their kids march around the course was as good as it gets.
