It isn't very often that the PGA TOUR heads to a venue that's open to amateurs the other 51 weeks of the year. But the host course of this week's Texas Children's Houston Open, however, is one of the great munis in the States.
At Memorial Park Golf Course, junior golfers who live in the area can play for $10. Yes, you read that correctly—$10! As for adults, they can get on for $30 Monday-Thursday, and for $38 over the weekend. For non-residents, adults can expect to pay $120 and $140, respectively.

This is ridiculously cheaper than some of the other TOUR courses that are available to amateurs.
For example, a tee time at TPC Sawgrass will cost you somewhere around $750. At Pebble Beach, you need to stay for two nights at the resort to be eligible for a tee time. Then you'll need to pay $675 to get on, and that doesn't include a caddie.
Yes, I know those two courses are on the extreme side of pricey, but the point stands.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler knows how awesome that is.
“I think it's a lot of fun. I think when I was a kid, if I could play a golf course that the pros were playing on, it would be pretty special,” he said last year. “So to come here to a public course where anybody can come and play, it's a lot of fun. It's great to be here in Houston supporting this tournament, this event and definitely glad to be here.”

It would be great to see the TOUR host tournaments at more of these kinds of courses. Accessibility isn't exactly golf's thing, and that deters plenty of potential new players. Going to courses that amateurs can play outside of tournament weeks would only benefit the long-term health of the game.
I know where I’ll be playing the next time I’m in Houston.
