Picks to Win & Best Bets for the 3M Open

Let's preview this week's 3M Open and make some picks to win at TPC Twin Cities.

If you’re planning on watching the 3M Open this weekend, you’re a sicko—and we love you for it. A major championship hangover is a real thing, and a major championship season is over hangover is 100 times worse.

It’s a shock to the system going from Northern Ireland and Royal Portrush to Blaine, Minnesota, and the 3M Open, but here we are. But I will say, it helps when the field features some interesting names.

Scottish Open winner Chris Gotterup is the betting favorite alongside Sam Burns, and they’ll be joined on the tee sheet by Maverick McNealy, Wyndham Clark, Jake Knapp, Tony Finau, Akshay Bhatia, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, and Luke Clanton, among others.

So, maybe you’re not a sicko after all for watching this event. That field sounds pretty damn good to me.

But now it’s time to pick a winner. We’re due.

Picks to Win the 3M Open

Sam Burns (18/1)

He’s bound to run into one. In his eight starts after the Masters and before going to the other side of the pond for the Scottish and Open, Burns finished T-19 or better seven times, including a playoff lose at the RBC Canadian Open. He’s 3/3 making it to the weekend at the 3M, with finishes of T-7 in 2019, T-32 in 2020, and T-12 a year ago. In a weaker field, give me the LSU product.

Max Greyserman (28/1)

Greyserman didn’t have a great showing across the pond. He missed the cut at both the Scottish Open and The Open, but he didn’t play bad golf. He was even par after 36 holes at The Renaissance Club, and one bad round (first-round 78) killed him at Portrush—he shot 67 on Friday. Before the two weeks abroad, Greyserman lost in a playoff at the Rocket Classic. Last season, he finished second at the 3M.

Jake Knapp (34/1)

Jhonattan Vegas, Tony Finau, Cameron Champ. What do all these past 3M Open champions have in common? They launch it off the tee. So, I’m turning to Knapp in this spot. Since missing back-to-back cuts at the PGA and Charles Schwab, Knapp's played some solid golf, finishing T-27 or better in four straight starts. He had a shot to win the Scottish Open before a final-round 74 pushed him down into a tie for 22nd. I like him in this spot.
