Today, in partnership with Pro Shop Studios (Hey, fam), Titleist released a new 45-minute docu-feature that follows the off-season going on of some of the brand's most prominent ambassadors. Will Zalatoris, Luvig Aberg, Lauren Coughlin, and more pros with serious bona-fides show off what their off-season process is like, and how they're gearing up for 2025.
Among the profiles, I was most interested in hearing from Zalatoris, who started his career hot only to hit a pretty large speed bump in the form of a back injury that had him out most of 2023. In the new doc, Zalatoris details conversations he had with his doctor about the possibility of not playing golf again, and even more interestingly, how his swing is evolving post-surgeries and what he's learning about his game through the process.
At one point, Zalatoris references a classic Byron Nelson swing thought: "Now I just try to feel like I'm in a phone booth. I'm turning in my posture. " "That's Hogan," he says, "Hogan always talked about swinging in a phone booth."
Zalatoris said the new thought helped make his golf swing much more simple. "I'm just getting rid of inefficient movements."
For all you Supermen with back problems, there ya have it. Keep it simple. Rotate within your posture. Swing in a phone booth.
And for the love of god do it in less than 40 seconds.
