Does a major championship really start until Tyrrell Hatton swears at himself, his golf clubs, the golf course, or really anything else that has wronged him? Nah, it doesn’t. But we got our first Hatton crash out on Friday morning, which means the PGA Championship is officially underway.
The Englishman was 2 under for his round on the 18th tee, his ninth hole of the day, and 5 under for the tournament, just one shot back of Jhonattan Vegas when his tee shot on the last found the creek that lazily meanders down the left side of the fairway.
Then the swears came.
I think that’s the first time I’ve heard the ole “see you next tuesday” on a golf broadcast. But with Tyrrell, you never know what you’re going to get. Truly one of one.
He went on to make a triple-bogey seven on 18 and was 2 under for the tournament when he made the turn.
