There are very few PGA TOUR wins throughout the year that transcend golf and make their way into the other major sports.
But Tommy Fleetwood’s did just that on Sunday afternoon.
After tapping in for a closing par on East Lake’s 18th hole, social media lit up with messages from some of the biggest names in sports. LeBron James, Caitlin Clark, and Tiger Woods were just some of the names who typed out congratulatory posts for the Englishman.
On this week’s episode of Dan on Golf, Fleetwood stopped by for a chat with Skratch’s Dan Rapaport and was asked what those messages meant to him.
“You make me emotional, Daniel,” Fleetwood said. “You know, I am very grateful for the story that this has been. And to have the opportunity to actually show that if you stay resilient, if you keep doing the right things, if you keep telling yourself the right things, if you keep trying…that it will happen, that it can happen…The support today was off the charts.”
Sunday wasn’t just a win for Tommy, it was a win for golf.
Also on this week’s DOG, Dan breaks down the TOUR Championship and the 2025 PGA TOUR season, he’s joined by Yip Strickler, the unofficial handicap police, and blind ranks the signs that you’re playing a hack.
You can listen to Dan on Golf wherever you get your podcasts or on the Dan on Golf YouTube channel.
